Sigma Alpha Sigma

Great news ΣΑΣ Alumni,

To get ΣΑΣ back onto OBU’s campus, we need 10-gentlemen willing to be a part of our lifelong club so they can elect a governing body and bring life back to ΣΑΣ.

Russ Breshears who was in ΣΑΣ Pledge Class 1982 will be helping Dr. Johnny Wink who was a Sponsor during his 50+ year tenure at OBU and will be assisting these men.

Please help us fill the OBU swimming pool viewing area because the swimmers are our best chance to get dedicated, passionate, qualified men this year! The swim meet starts at 5PM on January 27th at OBU’s Waggoner Pool.

After the swim meet around 8PM we are having a BBQ at the Wesley Foundation 316 N 11th, Arkadelphia to discuss ΣΑΣ plans, eat BBQ, and have some fun!

Are you coming? Please let us know if so 🙂

5:00PM – 8PM OBU Swim Meet: OBU Pool
8:00PM – 10:00PM ΣΑΣ BBQ: 316 N 11th, Arkadelphia

Please check back for upcoming events.

In 1932 Gillespie, Hagins, Martin, and McConnell founded Sigma Alpha Sigma underground at Ouachita Baptist University during The Great Depression. ΣΑΣ is officially recognized by OBU in 1933 but because of The Great Depression there was no yearbook printed that year. This photo is from the 1934 OBU yearbook and the 1st images we see of our ΣΑΣ brothers.

Reintroducing The Fighting S’s

Meet The Fighting ΣΑΣ

The late Dr. Downs did an excellent job researching all the Ouachita Baptist University’s fallen heroes of World War II. In his book, The Fighting Tigers, he goes into detail of the brave young ΣΑΣ brothers that gave the ultimate sacrifice. We want to dedicate this website to these men. Click to see the memorial at OBU.
