Sigma Alpha Sigma

ΣΑΣ Alumni, was excited at the possibility of getting its charter back at OBU but the schools admin had different plans…

We all learned where OBU stands and not just guessing any longer. It is now a waiting game till our next attempt… More details on what all went down 1-27-23

In 1932 Gillespie, Hagins, Martin, and McConnell founded Sigma Alpha Sigma underground at Ouachita Baptist University during The Great Depression. ΣΑΣ is officially recognized by OBU in 1933 but because of The Great Depression there was no yearbook printed that year. This photo is from the 1934 OBU yearbook and the 1st images we see of our ΣΑΣ brothers.

Reintroducing The Fighting S’s

Meet The Fighting ΣΑΣ

The late Dr. Downs did an excellent job researching all the Ouachita Baptist University’s fallen heroes of World War II. In his book, The Fighting Tigers, he goes into detail of the brave young ΣΑΣ brothers that gave the ultimate sacrifice. We want to dedicate this website to these men. Click to see the memorial at OBU.
